I miss the Parade
Posted on 10/11/2011 by Bruce G.
Welcome to those of you joining me from Ramblings, Reviews, & Reflections and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 4th stop, on our
Magical Blogorail today.
For those of you who regularly read the Unknown Magic Within Walt Disney World, John couldn’t help with today’s article, because our topic for the Magical Blogorail today is about a Disney attraction we would bring back if we could. John and I discussed it and he doesn’t really remember being to any attractions that are no longer in Walt Disney World; so, I am writing on my own today.
My first thought on this subject was the Kitchen Kabaret which was in the Land Pavilion (it was replaced by Food Rocks). I remember some of this show very much. I still smile when I think of the Colander Combo and the Fiesta Fruit singing Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit or Hamm and Eggz singing and telling jokes. It was the kind of show that is silly and entertaining and stuck with you. But I don’t know if I would have to bring it back, I mean it was presented in the area where Soarin’ is now. Then my thought was River Country. River Country was the original Disney Water Park. Located at Fort Wilderness
Campground, River Country was an "old-fashioned swimming hole". There were tubes that you could ride down small slides, water slides that looked like log flumes and play areas in the water for kids and adults alike. But, a few months ago when I heard that they were starting to tear down the Sky-way station in Fantasyland, I was a little bummed also. This was one of those rides that I always enjoyed very much. I liked being able to "soar" above the crowds in Tomorrowland and Fantasyland. The reason I was sad, was because it meant that the Skyway would never be open again. And that is one attraction I would definitely bring back, but the attraction I would bring back would be the Stars and Motor Cars parade.
This Parade in my opinion was the best parade ever offered in the Walt Disney World complex. It offered the best of the older Disney characters with the newest characters from Disney and Pixar and also characters from attractions in the parks. This was a really fun parade. It reminded me of a homecoming parade and how at those parades they have the homecoming court ride down the road in nice cars. The cars that they used to present the characters were also decorated, which also helped to present the characters in a neat, fun way.
Over the years I have enjoyed many of the Disney Parades, but this one was a special parade. It reminded you that Disney was based upon more than just a new movie or a new show on the Disney Channel. When we saw the parade, Chicken Little hadn’t been released yet, but he was the second character presented; it showed you that Disney was about the past, present and the future. I wish that Disney would bring back the Stars and Motor Cars Parade, it was a good one.
Thank you for joining me today. Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail Loop is The Magical Mouse Pad

I'm in the minority here because I think I'm the only one who would vote "no" to bringing the Skyway back. LOL
Thanks for letting me join your loop this week - this was a fun topic!
How cool! I never saw it but would have loved seeing all the charachters. (and now I have Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit in my head)
Since I have just recently started visiting WDW (I grew up in California and therefore Disneyland was my home park for a LONG time) so I don't know really any attractions/parades/etc. that are no longer there (besides Toontown, of course). But that parade sounds so cool! I hope they bring something like that back one day. :)
This was a great post! I have never seen the parade nor anything else you mentioned but I wish I could have, so much WDW history missed.
I enjoyed the Stars and Motor Cars parade, too. It fit very well with the Old Hollywood theme of the park, and it was so much better than the ADD-addled noise-fest we have now.
